Botulinum toxin

Botox, Dysport, Xeomin

Over time, repeated contractions of facial muscles can contribute to the formation of wrinkles and folds in the forehead, around the eyes, on the nose and neck, and near the mouth and chin. These dynamic wrinkles become deeper and more pronounced as our skin loses elasticity during the natural aging process. Botulinum toxin (i.e. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) treatments work to soften and improve the appearance of facial lines by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles.

How does botulinum toxin work?

Botulinun toxin is a naturally purified protein that is injected into muscles that cause facial wrinkles. The medication temporarily blocks muscular nerve signals, which weakens the muscle so it can’t contract. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin results start to take effect in 3-5 days and take full effect in 10-14 days. The visible improvement in wrinkles can be seen within several days of treatment and may continue to improve for up to one month. Results last up to 3-4 months. Best results are obtained with regular injections every 3-4 months. Deep lines may require subsequenet botulinum toxin treatments for softening.

Fillers

Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse

Injectable fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow's feet become more apparent. The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle. Fillers can be used to plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, and improve the appearance of recessed scars.

Injectable fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation surgery.

Medical grade chemical peels

A chemical peel is a simple, non surgical treatment to improve the appearance and texture of skin. We offer a variety of medical grade chemical peels to treat aging and sun damaged skin, rough texture, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, dry patches and facial blemishes. A series of chemical peels can help stimulate collagen production underneath the skin.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is one of the most compelling treatments for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. Today's technologies allow us to achieve excellent results without the risk and extended downtime of older, fully ablative laser treatments or more invasive surgical procedures. Lasers can improve skin texture and tone, soften lines and wrinkles, and promote healthier more even toned skin.

What laser treatments are available in our office?

  • Genesis, aka our "Laser Facial", treats fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, diffuse redness, scarring, active acne and laxity
  • IPL treats diffuse redness, red acne scars, rosacea, telangiectasia and sun damage
  • Laser therapy for benign pigmented lesions (i.e. sun spots), veins and warts
  • Laser hair removal for unwanted hair to achieve permanent hair reduction

Microneedling

Microneedling, also called skin needling, is a treatment that uses tiny needles to make small, superficial channels in the skin. The process causes controlled injury to the skin, which stimulates your skin's formation of collagen and elastin.

Microneedling with the SkinStylus® can be alternated or combined with other treatments such as fractional laser therapy, chemical peels, IPL, and other modalities.

The cost of a microneedling facial treatment is $425/session and includes a post procedure skin care kit.. Results are best achieved when done in a series of 4+ treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart when treating melasma and scarring and 4-6 weeks apart when treating fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores and uneven skin tone.

Acne Treatments

Nearly all of us have acne at some time or another. While acne often affects adolescents, it may persist, begin or become more severe in adulthood. Acne most often affects the face, but it may spread to involve the neck, chest and back, and sometimes even more extensively over the body. Acne lesions can appear as comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Prolonged acne can lead to excoriations, red marks, brown marks and scars. Several types of acne spots often occur at the same time.

Acne may be classified as mild, moderate or severe and treatment depends on the patient’s age and sex, the extent and the severity of the acne, how long it has been present, and response to previous treatments. Treatment of acne is often managed with a combination approach (i.e. prescription topical creams, oral antibiotics, chemical peels and laser treatments).

What are the benefits of laser treatment for acne?

  • Laser therapy is an alternative option for those resistant to traditional measures

  • Laser acne treatment is an option for patients wanting to minimize oral antibiotic use

  • In addition to treating active acne, lasers improve the appearance of acne scarring

  • Lasers target the surface and deeper layers of the skin improving the appearance of acne scars

Please note all medical dermatology visits (acne, rosacea, skin exam, warts, etc.) include evaluation and treatment of a medical diagnosis, therefore a flat fee will be charged for the visit. We do not accept insurance.
